Selena Italy APS (Association of Social Promotion) for promoting female entrepreneurship

Selena Italy, association of social promotion, would like to promote female entrepreneurship, in order to operate and spread gender equality’s approach and Womenomics as a key to achieving the objective of women’s full employment and development of a sustainable economy.

The Association was created and promoted by nine women entrepreneurs, all with strong cultural, personal, professional and social backgrounds. Selena Italy arises together with Selena Association of Women Entrepreneurs in Bulgaria, that for years has established itself worldwide – and with which Selena Italy has signed an exciting partnership -, as well as with other International Associations, whose founders have been active.

Selena’s aims will be pursued by operating into four main areas: Training and Development, Planning and Innovation, Communication and Promotion, Internationalization. Within each area a working group, different in its scope, will be coordinated by a manager with a long and demonstrable experience in the area.

Members will be mainly directed to develop entrepreneur culture and implement business ideas; through management and women leadership; through the use of Mentorship as an innovative vehicle for development of skills; through organization of training events; promotion of innovative and motivating initiatives for female enterprises; creation of spaces and opportunities to facilitate the planning, establishment and growth of women-owned companies; inception and development of international projects; promotion and development of an eco-sustainable management of the territory, by paying attention on nature, on environmental projects and on production.

Why is needed to set up a new association?

“Selena was not set up in opposition to other associations already operative in the area – is the answer of Elda Lettieri, the President of the association – on the contrary, the intention is to expand the existing national and international networks, bringing its personal and professional contribution of relationships accrued in Europe by the Association’s members”.

Elda Lettieri also has been the president of Selena, Association of Women Entrepreneurs in Bulgaria, where from 2008 to 2012 she held three International Forums in the field of Female Entrepreneurship in Bulgaria and Eastern Europe. These events allowed to create a rich network  of contacts at European level. Her new challenge is Selena Italy, with which she hopes to further expand the European network where she played a leading role in recent years, as a Bulgarian partner in four European projects, mainly to support the youth and women’s activities.

At her side are some of the most motivated and experienced women entrepreneurs: Gabriella Ferranti, Professor of European Law at University of Sassari; Cristina Gorajski, consultant of the local authorities and small businesses, general secretary AICCRE for the region Marche and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Ancona; Tiziana Rubano, entrepreneur, journalist and content manager; Rita Assogna, ITWIIN President, consultant in Intellectual Property rights and patents; Wanda Pezzi, expert in training and human resources, Councillor of Gender Equality for the Region of Tuscany; Grazia Pingaro, entrepreneur, President CNA Impresa Donna Siena – for female entrepreneurship – President CNA Val d’Elsa, Laura Cresti, general manager “Agriturismo La Ripolina” in Buonconvento (Siena), President Agriturist Tuscany, member of the National Council Agriturist, member of the regional council Confagricoltura Tuscany.
